So How’d it Start?
We touched on this briefly in our Our Story section, but we’d love to share a little more about how we found ourselves living full-time in an RV.
Before making this huge shift, our life was what most people would probably call typical. We both worked full-time, Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 3, at a manufacturing shop. The work was steady, consistent, and close to family. It was a good life, and we could have easily imagined ourselves staying on that path for years to come.
But even then, we found ourselves looking forward to every opportunity to get outside and explore.
Over Earth Day weekend in 2023, we took a backpacking trip to Mammoth Cave National Park. We toured the amazing cave, then set out to backpack. The backcountry trails were overgrown, the ticks were relentless, and it definitely wasn’t the easiest adventure we’d ever been on. Even so, we had an incredible time slowing down, exploring the landscape, and enjoying being together.
That weekend became even more unforgettable.
After a short walk to the river, Mason asked me to marry him.
Of course, I said yes.
As life moved on, we continued working our jobs and traveling whenever we could. We squeezed adventures into weekends and vacation days, making the most of every opportunity. We explored places like Hawaii, Toronto, California, and Tennessee, each trip reminding us how much we loved discovering new places and experiencing God’s beautiful creation.
As we planned our wedding, we knew one thing for certain, we wanted it to reflect who we were.
Instead of choosing a traditional venue close to home, we decided on a destination wedding among the towering Redwoods of Northern California. Inviting only family.
It was everything we had hoped for.
Standing beneath those incredible trees, surrounded by our small group of both families, was an experience we’ll never forget. Looking back, we wouldn’t change a single thing.
At the time, we didn’t realize it, but God was already using those trips, those adventures, and our growing love for exploring to prepare our hearts for a life we never imagined was possible.
